So probably most of you expected that this next issue would be a continuation of last session`s discussion on NFC technology, well I intended that too but its something that practically happened over the weekend prompted me to get myself on the type-board to post this article.
Well I am a very conscious guy when it comes to matters of cybersecurity or to classify it broadly, digital security.Well my mediatek-powered phone comes with numerous spy-tools and security features such that i can practically not have a screen-lock but still have a good log of what apps have been accessed for how long and by what intention. With such apps i always find myself crossing over the defensive zone into the offensive zone and thus its like I betray my personal ethics, where I simply employ tools like netcut
and cspoilt to ensure that my WiFi connection remains atop of others over the school WiFi.I was all cool till they re-introduced a firewall on the school`s PCs which restricted us from accessing social media siites such as Facebook,Instagram,Twitter and such,I tried all forms of tweaks to bypass the firewall including port scanning but with no avail so I finally accepted to breach my digital security by installing a VPN into the PC,downloaded it fine but then I hit the proverbial hard rock when it came to the installation part, the Admin password was required for me to install the software.
I could have asked for the password and probably install it but I didn't want to have myself under the spotlight, remember the geekcode,"never let people link the physical you and the on-line you, because its suicidal"
So I want the unrestricted internet but still I don't want to reveal my other me,so my solution lay at finding an On-line vpn service who would be better at handling my on-line data in a more secure way plus without the need of downloading a nagging software.
FINDING A SECURE ONLINE VPN
Well when it comes to doing research,I love Google followed by Bing,so after a tiresome couple hours of research,I had a list of about 40 VPN(s) now the challenge lay at identifying those that I could trust with my precious data and those that were in the game for malicious purposes.
I first acquired the IP info of these sites then headed over to the best identifier and whooping 23 of them were found to have been involved in spamming.(to test a spamming site click here)now I had a smalle number of sites to vet and so I headed over to the HTTPS testing.
Now here I was to open the sites in different tabs and try accessing Facebook via a https connection that was the second way to sieve out sites that could not deliver the Facebook webpage without an encryption and so I disqualified them where a webpage loaded with an error or loaded without the "s" in the https:// .Over 15 sites could not measure up to the standard and thus I was left with a meagre 2-5 sites.
I wanted only one which could deliver my particular interests.I had to come up with another viable logic that would kick out the 4 and allow me to proceed with one.
So my solution was to employ my greatest fear on socialmedia security;PHISHING,how would I go about that?Simple, its pretty common sense that phishing websites cannot allow you log in to an authentic site even if you enter the right password and username,so that was it,I would carry out a phishing test.I opened the Facebook site and then attempted to log in with a fake real username but a fake password.Well my guess was quite right, the fake sites responded with an "error try reloading/time-out/invalid server" and precisely those were the malicious site that i had to blacklist.Only one responded with a "incorrect password".
So I could happily chant my way to freedom with this on-line VPN. This is the site I recommend you when you want to bypass any restrictions put in place over your WiFi or your ISP.
