ROOTING
You have probably heard this term being mentioned in tech conversations.
Rooting for Android is similar to Jailbreaking for iOS.
In many of my articles, you will see more scenarios where I will recommend you to root your Android smartphone so that it can be compatible with Tweaking apps.
Rooting essentially gives you 99.9% power to control you smartphone, mind you that when you purchase that smartphone from the retail center, you are only allocated less than 40% control of your phone,SMH.So without root access,we can basically say that you're a puppet user of smartphone, you simply don't own that phone.
When you purchase your phone from the retail center, your phone manufacturer doesn't want you to have total control over your phone,(why? For marketing purposes-have you noticed a couple of apps that just sit in your phone and you don't really use them?, you ain't alone, phone manufacturers want our lives to revolve around their products, they want to make money even after you've purchased that smartphone from them ,these guys want you to chant their brand names all year long ,for example let me highlight desperate Samsung, they've this pocketmusic app and Samsung appstore, really who uses these stores while there exists Playstore?what you should really worry about is that these apps suck your RAM,memory and drain your precious battery)
The government too needs to have its citizens under constant monitoring and thus they discourage rooting of smartphones(why? Rooting allows you to change your phones basic details that can be used for tracking your device/you eg Mac Address, Imei...etcetera)
So WHAT IS ROOTING?
Rooting is the ability to obtain full administrative control of your device.see also Root Access.
So what are the BENEFITS OF ROOTING?
Rooting gives you administrative privileges to control your device.
It permits you to allow/deny apps from executing certain actions, eg You deny an app from charging you a pro version, and thus you are able to use a pro version without paying for it actually.Do you play a game and get freaked out when you run out of coins, well hack the game and multiply your coins, fun ain't it?
Let me summarize the benefits of rooting below:
1.rooting allows you to use hacking/illegal apps eg Tunnel VPNs,Dspoilt/Zanti,Facesniff,Pcap etcetera
2.rooting allows you to uninstall default apps, commonly referred to as bloatware
3.rooting allows you to automate tasks in your phone, imagine a scenario where you make your phone power itself on,send a series of messages to a WhatsApp group, flashcall your contacts,open/close music,Send emails, respond to emails, shutdown with a text message, shutdown when the phone is accessed by an unauthorized person, shutdown when the phone crosses out of a geographical area, shutdown when triggered by a call, etcetera call me lazy, but automating your phone is the way to go.
4.rooting allows you to overclock CPU rate, say byebye to slow processing
5.rooting allows you to get online privacy by giving you anonymous access using TOR,remember the dark Internet world.
6.rooting allows you to improve the battery life
7.rooting allows you to install custom ROMs,let you device work like a desktop.
8.rooting allows you to transfer apps to/fro phone internal memory.
9.rooting allows you to block annoying ads.
10.rooting allows you to edit apps.
11.rooting allows you to completely wipe out/modify/extract viruses, eg through luckpatcher and titanium backup, you can modify Shedun & Kemoge Malwares
12.rooting allows you to even change you phone number illegally.
DOWNSIDE OF ROOTING
Now that I've informed you the ups now lemmi show you the downs.
1.bricking-this is the most dangerous part of rooting, your device maybe rendered useless when its screen freezes, loops a power-on,or fails to power on totally.
2.Void warranty-Our desperate phone manufacturers declare your phone's warranty void when they scan and realize your phone is rooted, but of course if you use a correct rooting method, unrooting will spare you their crap.
3.,Malwares-after rooting the OS is left bare and naked ..this is risky as malwares may take advantage and install themselves upon the OS discreetly, however you don't have to worry about this,I suggest that you should have at least three antivirus apps that will detect the location of the viruses and then use luckpatcher or titanium backup to wipe them out.
HOW DO I ROOT?
Well there are two methods;
1.thorough the recover method
Here you Google for the right zip file download it and take not of its location and then power off your phone, then press vol+ and power to access the recovery menu (kind like BIOS for pc) then manouver through the location and install it.blah blah blah ..I discourage peeps from using this method because altering a wrong file may result to bricking.
2.One-Click-root method, this is the safest method, here you download an app that roots your phone eg framaroot and kingroot etcetera, you don't have to worry about bricking your phone since the one-click-root apps are configured to only alter the required files.
If your phone fails to root just do a simple Google search type the model of your phone and add a root-related suffix eg 'Infinix x507 rooting'
If no result pleases you then just post a query on XDA developers forum.
